I never thought I’d see the day, but the Liberty Theater on Main Street is being renovated. The sun-faded movie posters of The Island and Mr. And Mrs. Smith remind residents of recent past failures to revitalize Main Street. But things are different now as new businesses, construction and beautification projects begin to appear along the potentially vital thoroughfare. With historic pre-war buildings, easy access to Interstate 86 and a younger demographic escaping New York City for affordable real estate, Liberty’s Main Street is on the upswing.
It is still too early to say how the large space will be used, but early plans are on the table.
