Kauneonga Lake & The Mini Lobster
The restaurants on Kauneonga Lake are open. Diners are eating outside, a leisure boat or two lap the waves along the shore and cars are parked spontaneously along the road. Summer is in the air even though many of the lakeside homes are closed down from the previous season – boats and barbeques tarped.
The lake is beautiful tonight. Quiet and empty. Summer brings fluorescent colored water gear and the mosquito buzz of jet skis.
My son noticed a “mini lobster” in the lake, but thanks to Google we learned that lobsters can only live in salt water. We thought a local restaurant might have dumped a lucky lobster and it had babies. Turns out crayfish can live in fresh water.
Or “mini lobsters.”
